Before I became an attorney, I worked at a large insurance company handling hundreds of auto insurance claims.  I know how the process works.  The ultimate goal was to get people to settle their claim within twenty-four hours of the accident, before the shock wears off and people really begin to feel their pain. 

If you are a third-party claimant, the insurance company could care less about your needs.  Also, Tennessee law does not protect third-party claimants in some circumstances with its bad faith laws.  In Tennessee, the statute of limitations for injuries received from a car accident is only a year, so you need to act fast!

Even if you are hit by an uninsured motorist, get an attorney.  Some insurance companies do not treat their own customers with the care that they deserve.  They do barely enough to comply with the terms of the insurance policy in the eyes of the law.
